Political signs have been the target of a string of vandalism in recent days across Greater Napanee.

Several signs for Hastings-Lennox and Addington Liberal candidate Mike Bossio have been destroyed, taken down or defaced. Volunteers with the campaign have reported signs have also been spray painted with obscene symbols.

“Sign vandalism in a federal campaign can, sadly, be a common nuisance for all parties,” Bossio said when reached for comment. “However, the degree to which it seems to be happening to our signs this time around has dramatically increased.”

“The Bossio Campaign would like to remind HLA residents to remain vigilant to the destruction of its campaign signs, or any other candidate’s campaign signs,” Bossio added. “It not only disrespects our democracy, it’s against the law. Anyone who witnesses individuals damaging political signs should contact their local OPP.”

A sign near the Glenora Ferry has been vandalized.
