The exhibition season wound down this week as the Napanee U13 Stars had two close home games with Frontenac this week, both going down to the last minutes of the final frame, the latter a 5-4 loss, with the former ending 3-3.

On Saturday, after a scoreless first, the U13’s Keegan Wilde scored after grabbing a loose puck in the corner. Frontenac tied things on a 2-on-2, with the trailer firing low. Their opponents went ahead on a breakaway late in the second, but the Stars came right back early in the third. Grayson Rowe netted a tally 38 seconds in, and Tripp Deacon tipped in a rebound less than a minute later. The rally continued as Maddux Hartwick registered their fourth goal of the game still early in the third. Their guests chipped away recording three of their own, the last being the 5-4 winner with 1:55 left. Shots favoured Frontenac 31-16.

Earlier in the week, the U13’s fought a defensive struggle with those same Frontenacs tying 3-3. Again, the goalies were perfect in the first. In the second, Caleb Baker potted a goal on a strong point shot. Their opponents matched them, and added two more in the third. Down 3-1 the Stars rallied in the last two minutes with goals by Nate Benn and Chase Castagnier to gain the tie.

The Napanee U11 Stars hosted Loyalist in exhibition play at the SPC scoring early and often, but fell 9-6. Marcus Luechford had two goals and Ben DeMarielle added another, while Sullivan Elliott added another in the second, but Napanee trailed 6-4 at the break. Luke Dunn would make it close, and Charlie Dwyer would add to the total on a pass from the backboards, but they fell short at the end.
