Through the eyes of a senior

As an 82-year-old woman, I’ve seen many changes, some good, some bad, that’s life.

But I can’t come to terms with the way our world is developing. So much anger, whatever happened to respect for one another?

‘Do all the good you can to all the people you can, in all the ways you can, and as long as you can.’

Why can’t we all live this?

Abortion, a very controversial topic, but it shouldn’t be. We like to hide our heads in the sand. Does the average Canadian really think about it? I’m sure there are some cases where there is no choice, but it’s out of hand. Full term abortions, I’ll say no more.

I became a Canadian citizen in 1954. What a future we had. Canada gave us so much, it was good to my family.

But what it happening now? The unthinkable, the government almost stopped prayer at our Remembrance Day services. Then at the last minute they changed that, thank goodness.

If  I’m not mistaken, the Confederation of Canada was based n Christianity, Catholic in Lower Canada, Roman Catholic minority, Protestant in Upper Canada. It’s so different today, so many cultures and religions. Our country need to nurture this. We all should be free to live, free to practice our own faiths. But please don’t change our history, it’s our heritage. This and the new cultures coming into Canada can go together, respecting each other.

Work as one Canada, before it’s too late.
