Quinte Conservation is seeking the public’s help in order to identify the person or people behind some illegal logging that took place at Kingsford Conservation Area in Marysville.

“They pushed over some trees and cut down two large trees,” said Terry Murphy, general manager of Quinte Conservation. “The trees are totally missing and they left huge ruts.”

Along with stealing the trees, Murphy estimates between re-seeding and repairing damage to the area, they’re looking at upwards of $10,000.

“We’re hoping the public can help us,” said Murphy. “There’s trespassing, theft, damage to property, you name it.”

Anyone who say the activity taking place may have assumed it was official work being done by Quinte Conservation. If anyone noticed any suspicious activity in the area that weekend, they can contact Quinte Conservation at 613-968-3434.

Murphy says this isn’t the first time they’ve had a problem in that area.
