Peewee AE Stars top Tweed for first victory

The Napanee Peewee AE Stars team got their first win of the season on Sunday in Tweed, winning 8-5 after a 7-2 loss in Norwood and a 6-3 defeat in Bancroft earlier in the weekend. Playing in the regular peewee division of the Eastern Ontario League since there is no local AE league, they have faced some stiff challenges before topping Tweed.

-The Peewee BBs got their fifth straight win, a 9-0 triumph over Centre Hastings. Goalie Aidan Difazio earned the shutout. They also blanked Norwood 4-0. Jayden Holden, Zered Haller, Nic Compeau and Dylan Kemp did the damage for the Stars facing Norwood. The peewee squad has allowed a single goal while scoring 29 times.

-The novice squad played well but came up empty handed with respect to points as they lost 5-3 to Centre Hastings and 4-3 facing Douro.

-The Joyce’s Meat and Deli Atom BBs were impressive, defeating Otonabee 23-1 and Douro 18-0. At home to Douro, the parade of scorers included Matthew Airhart (three), Malcolm McCaw (two), Wyatt Whalen (two), Tivon James (two), Ben Kerr (two), Wyatt Albright (two), Sophie Fraser (two), Evan Gaffney, Liam Birney, and Lucas Asselstine. Goalie Caleb Scrimshaw faced few tests in the shutout. Jackson Godfrey got the win between the posts in Otonabee. Thus far, they have outshot their opponents 78-6.

-The Atom AEs lost twice- 5-4 in Centre Hastings and 9-3 facing Norwood. In the Norwood game, Cooper Seaton, Zachary Wilde and Braden Hartwick netted singles for the locals.

-The Napanee Exit Realty Acceleration Bantam BBs dumped Norwood 7-2 and defeated Campbellford 5-1 putting them in second place in the 13 team Eastern Ontario League heading into tonight’s game in Stirling.

-Meanwhile the midgets got by Bancroft 6-3 and shut out Campbellford 3-0 for their fourth straight win. In the Saturday shutout Mason Barker scored twice while Corbin Gibson chipped in a single.
