The U11B Napanee Stars hosted Stirling on Sunday, dropping an 8-3 decision, but played a strong game. Henry Boyles put them ahead after he picked a puck off the sideboards, and beat the goalie cleanly. Down 4-1 after one, Ian Fairbairn broke in to cut across the crease to elude the netminder. Hunter Armstrong walked in alone to score after Ira Bellegarde poked the puck off a defenseman’s stick. In a very strong effort, they outshot their guests 45-26.

In Ennismore on Saturday, the U11B’s lost 11-2. Napanee’s goal scorers were Nathan Kimmett and Armstrong.

Napanee’s other entry, the Napanee U11 D’s faced Ennismore at the Strathcona Paper Centre on Sunday losing 10-4. Harrison Van Derhayden-Sharpe tallied the first of two on the power play, and Colton Celestini got another walking around the goalie. Clark McNeil would score right off the faceoff in the dying seconds of the game. Anders Armstrong-Ohara was busy in the local’s cage.

The U13 Goodyear Napanee Stars played in the season’s first league game to tie Stirling 3-3. They fell behind by three at the halfway mark. Keegan Wilde cued the comeback scoring from in close. Just three minutes into the third, Chase Castignier put the puck under the netminder’s glove to put them within one. Tripp Deacon evened the score at 3-3 pouncing on a loose puck in a mad scramble after Castignier’s initial shot. It ended after a nail-biting two-man-short situation for Napanee. Clayton Manion was solid in net for the Stars. Shots favoured Napanee 26-18.

On Saturday, the Goodyear squad played in a one day tournament in Marmora winning games over the Kingston Canadians and the Tweed Hawks before suffering defeat to Ennismore in the final.
