Skating, pancakes and horse wagon rides on tap for Deseronto Family Day event

Deseronto’s Community Rec Centre will be the site of fun Family Day activities throughout the day on Feb. 19.

The day starts off with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Deseronto Fire department, running from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children age 5-12 and  free for anyone under five.

Free public skating will be available from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. (sponsored by Hastings-Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee) and again from 2-4 p.m.

From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. there will be free pick-up hockey with the Deseronto Bulldogs Sr. A team for ages 5-12 and then again from 11 a.m. to noon, this time for ages 13-18.

Adult fitness classes will run upstairs at the arena from 10:30 to 11 a.m. and again from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

Magician Rob Driscoll will make an appearance from noon to 1 p.m. to entertain the kids. Later in the afternoon from 1 to 2 p.m. the Deseronto Royal Flying Club will demonstrate some remote piloted air-crafts flying over the arena’s ice surface.

Outside the arena horse drawn wagons will run from 1 to 3 p.m. while from 2 to 3 p.m. there will be crafts, balloons and family photos hosted by the Deseronto Public Library.
