Police investigate report of a male with possible firearm seen near J.J. O’Neill, hold and secure lifted

Lennox and Addington OPP say there is no threat to the community as they continue to investigate the Napanee Fairgrounds following a report of a male seen with a possible firearm walking near JJ O’Neil Catholic School.

A heavy police presence, including K-9 units, were spotted in the area around the Fairgrounds, including cruisers parked in front of nearby schools.

As a result of the call, Napanee District Secondary School, The Prince Charles and J.J. O’Neill were placed in a hold and secure around 3:30 p.m. The hold and secure was lifted just before 5 p.m.
