Newburgh Centreville United Church Pastoral Charge is seeking feedback from the public to help guide its future direction.

Like a lot of churches across Canada, Newburgh and Centreville United Churches have had to rethink how they serve the community in the post-COVID world. To help shape their future plans they’re currently soliciting feedback through an online survey, found at https://forms.gle/oXVm54kvWiCtcaqw7. They’re accepting responses until Aug. 13.

“It’s an opportunity for us to take a look to the future and how would we could change or what would we do differently, and an opportunity to grow,” said Jeffrey Sloan, a member of the Newburgh-Centreville United Church Pastoral Charge renewal committee. “One of the things we’ve been thinking about is how can we engage the community because we know there’s lots of needs out there and we’d like to be able to be in a position to respond to some of the needs in the community.”

Newburgh-Centreville Pastoral Charge is made up of a pair of churches under one direction, the Newburgh location at 339 Academy St., Centreville’s located at 264 Curl Road.

“What we’re looking at in terms of our community survey are things like what do you think our church could be doing in the community, apart from the Sunday services, because the space is available during the week,” said Sloan. “Should we be looking at senior’s outreach, a coffee hour, food banks? Any number of possibilities are there and we’re trying to get a sense of what the needs are in the community.”

Following the collection of data, the next step will be to begin to formulate a plan in the fall.
