Napanee’s Gracie Hearns will be representing her hometown at the U19 Canadian Softball Championships, which run Aug. 13-18 in Waterloo, On.

The 17-year-old is a member of the Toronto Fastpitch team, and they will enter into Canadians as the Ontario 2 team.

Batting out of the leadoff spot, Hearns plays catcher and outfield, contributing to her team’s success both defensively and offensively.  Earlier this year she was named Most Valuable Player Award at the Waterloo Ghost tournament and batted .555 at the qualifiers for the Canadians.  She has received the Softball Napanee Award for player with the most heart, as a six year old and also received the MVP of provincials in 2015, and won a gold medal at the Eastern Canadian Championships as a pick up player with Brantford.
