The defending champion Napanee AFW Construction Express were off to a 2-0 start at the U19 Canadians, heading into Wednesday’s action in Owen Sound.

Brock Fencott delivered an extra innings walk-off single in Napanee’s opening game to lift the Express to an 8-7 win over the BC Marlins.

Napanee had led 5-1 after two innings and 7-1 after five but saw the Marlins rally with four in the six and two in the seventh to force extras.

The Marlins scored one in the top of the eight but the Express were able to respond with two in their half of the inning to seal the win. Tucker Firth had three RBI, Fencott had two. Andrew Vanboekel earned the win with two innings of relief work. Connor Brooks made the start.

In their second game they doubled Nova Scotia’s St. Mary’s Taymouth Tigers 8-4.

The tournament continues through Sunday.
