Erinsville’s Maddi Wheeler has once again been invited to Hockey Canada’s National Women’s Development training camp, which is being held in St. Catharines, On.

Wheeler is one of 23 players who will be in camp as Team Canada gears up for a three-game series against Team USA, set for Aug. 9-13 in Lake Placid, NY.

Wheeler is among the returning players in camp who took part in a development series against the US last summer.

Gina Kingsbury vice-president of hockey operations, led the player selection process in consultation with Cherie Piper, senior manager of player development and scouting.
“We have an exciting group of accomplished athletes joining our development program this year in St. Catharines,” Kingsbury said in a release from Team Canada. “We are looking forward to watching this group return to the ice for a competitive camp in preparation for our series against the United States.”

Wheeler, a graduate of NDSS, is entering her fourth year at the University of Wisconsin, majoring in Kinesiology.

Since joining the Badgers three years ago, she’s helped the team win two NCAA National Championships.
