Low voter turn out allows Ford to spend $10 billion on Hwy 413

Thanks to the lowest turnout in Ontario history, 17 per cent of eligible voters have given the Ford government permission to take over $10 billion from your tax dollars to build Highway 413 and it will only benefit wealthy land developers. It is an environmental disaster that would pave over our pristine Greenbelt, destroy farmland, and wildlife — all to save drivers a mere 30-60 seconds of time per trip.
The Ford government ignored its own consultants’ advice and chose the route of maximum environmental destruction and maximum profits for rich land developers who contributed to the Tory campaign.

This unneeded highway will add over 17 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions in the next 30 years and be detrimental to over 29 federally listed species at risk. We don’t need more highways, we need to prioritize liveable towns and invest in clean, green and public transportation between them.

Isn’t that why we live in Eastern Ontario?
