Five Napanee Express teams place first in weekend tournaments

Napanee Express teams were winning tournaments all over the map this weekend as five teams-U11 boys, U13 girls, U15 girls, U17 girls and U20 men-capturing the gold.

The Barr Homes U17 Girls Express finished first in Lac St. Louis, Que.

Game 1 versus Ancaster resulted in a 7-2 Napanee win, followed by a 4-0 victory over Waterloo 4-0.

In their third game they suffered their first and only setback, a 7-2 loss to Brampton.

They rebounded in the quarter-finals with an 11-2 win over Ancaster. The bats kept rolling in the seminal, defeating Ottawa 10-2. In the gold medal game against host Lac St Louis, Napanee pulled off a 7-2 victory courtesy a three-run home run from Keyana Whan while Chiara McArthur added three hits. Danielle Barker pitched for the win and was also awarded tournament MVP.

-Napanee’s U11 boys won a tournament in Innerkip while the U13 and U15 Express girls each won the Paul Currelly Tournament in Cobourg.

-Napanee’s U20 men continue to prepare to host the Canadian Fast Pitch Championships in August, winning the Westport Men’s Tournament.
