Driver collides with police cruiser at traffic stop on Palace Road, second suspect charged with assaulting an officer

On Jan. 16 at approximately 4:30 p.m. officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of erratic driving on Hwy 401 westbound from County Road 4.

Police initiated a traffic stop at Palace Road and the vehicle collided with a police cruiser.  The officer was not injured and the driver was arrested.  A passenger was also arrested.

A 37-year-old of Greater Napanee has been charged  with:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Fail to comply with probation

A 32-year-old of Greater Napanee, is charged  with:

  • Causing a disturbance
  • Assault police
  • Obstruct police

Both accused were released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on March 23.
