Never able to recover from a sluggish start, the Deseronto Bulldogs fell 6-2 to the visiting Cornwall Prowlers in Saturday night’s EOSHL action.

The Bulldogs surrendered five goals before they finally got on the board. It wasn’t for lack of trying, as the Bulldogs had plenty of offensive chances but just couldn’t find the back of the net.

Mitch Merry finally broke the Prowlers’ scoring run with a goal just over a minute into the third period. Jordan Cannons followed with Deseronto’s second goal at the 5:06 mark.

That was as close as the Bulldogs would get however as Cornwall’s Adam Wensink added an insurance goal at the 10 minute mark to round out the scoring.

Trevor Withers took the loss for Deseronto, stopping 37 of 43 attempts. Frederic Roy was outstanding for the Prowlers, turning away 50 shots from the Bulldogs for the victory.

The loss drops Deseronto to 3-4 on the season.

Deseronto will visit first place West Carleton on Friday before returning home for a game against the Maxville Millionaires. Puck drop on Saturday is 6:30 p.m. at the Deseronto Community Rec Centre.
