Atom BB Stars sweep Stirling

The Napanee Atom BB Stars swept Stirling in their best of five series, with scores of 6-0, 13-1 and 3-0.  In Game 1, they got goals from Matthew Airhart, Carter Slaven, Dylan Kemp, Kohen Cutler, Tie Wood, and Blake Wood. In Game 3, they earned goals in each frame. Mason Goodfellow scored the winner in the first from Kemp. Miles Jones added to the total assisted by Cutler.  Owen Dwyer sealed the deal with assists to Coulson South and Matthew Airhart.  Aidan Difazio gained the goaltending shutout win.

-The Peewee BBs continued to dominate the opposition blanking Stirling 11-0, and 16-0.

In the opening game, less than two minutes in, a neat three way passing play put Carter McKay in the clear. By the end of the first it was 3-0, although shots on goal only favoured the Stars by 9-5.

The Stars added two more goals in the second, and the locals outshot their opponents 13-1. A feed from behind the net led to a goal mouth scramble that Jake Wood converted.

They added six more in the third stanza for the 11-0 win. Holden Breault got the start in goal. Puck drop for Saturday’s game 3 is 3:30 p.m. at the SPC.

-The AFW Construction Novice Stars played games 3 and 4 in their 12 game round robin, this time with Lindsay.

They tied their hosts 3-3 on Saturday, and lost 5-2 on Sunday at the SPC.  In the early going Sunday, they led 2-0 on goals by Cooper Seaton and Ben Kerr, but Lindsay came back to win. They are scheduled to travel to Picton and Newcastle this weekend.

-The Napanee Bantam Stars now lead their best-of seven-series with Lindsay 2-1. After Napanee won Game 1, the Muskies returned the favour with a 4-0 shutout of the locals. Sunday on the road, the bantam boys bounced back with a solid 3-1 showing to retake the series lead. Game 5 will be back in Napanee on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

-The Joyce’s Meats & Deli Atom AEs need just one more win after a 7-1 win at home, and 4-0 shutout win in Lindsay. At the SPC, Wyatt Albright and Sam McCaw each netted a pair for the locals, while Scott Scrimshaw, Sophie Fraser, and Malcolm McCaw did the rest of the damage. Game 3 is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. at the SPC.

-The Calderwood Automation Peewee AE boys earned four points in their six point series with Lindsay.

They got a 4-2 road win over Lindsay, and then, back home on Sunday, they earned a 5-4 overtime win. In that contest, the lead changed hands several times with Nic Lamarche giving the locals an early lead. Then, down 3-1 to start the third period, Cam Pearson, Duncan Clarke, and Jayden Holden put them up 4-3. With 14.4 seconds left, the visitors got the equalizer. In overtime, Caleb South brought the home crowd to their feet, as he scored the winner. Game 4, if necessary is scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. at the SPC.

-The Country Traditions Bantam Roster Selects edged Quinte West 2-1 in Deseronto. Wyatt Johnson and Austin Catena made the gamesheet in the win.

Napanee Crunch

The Novice B Crunch entered the weekend in need of two wins to secure a spot in the playoffs, and did just that.

First they shutout the West Northumberland Wild, 4-0. Lexa Lazarakos scored a hat trick, with the other goal scored by Claire Clapp.  Assists went to Peyton Bowers and Lilyana Reid.  Yakowennare Brant was perfect in net.

They followed that with a 4-1 win over West Northumberland. Lazarakos had a pair of goals, Molly Cook-Martin (her first of the season) and Ryan DuChene had the others. Assists went to Kailee Jacklin (two), Lazarakos and Kendyl Hunter.

The team has continued to get better over the course of the season and are heading into the playoffs against the top seeded Clarington Flames.

-It was back-to-back shutouts for the Atom Bs. Their first was a 4-0 win over the Kingston Ice Wolves on Wednesday.

On Sunday it was a 2-0 victory over the Lindsay Lynx.  Emma Goodsell-Labarge earned the shutout.

This locked up first place in the East Division and a first round matchup versus the Peterborough Ice Kats.

-The Peewee BBs wrapped up their regular season on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 win over the Kingston Ice Wolves.  Keyra Herrington earned the shutout.

Goals were provided by Claire McConnell, Kaylee Brooks and Lila Pringle. Megan Morsette and Anna Hagerman had helpers.

Out of 45 teams at the Peewee BB level in the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League, the Crunch are the only team to have an undefeated season with a record of 17-0-5.

On Saturday evening they hosted the Rome Grizzlies from New York state. The Grizzlies had not lost and only given up a goal all season.  They were looking for stronger competition up here and they found it as Napanee won 3-0. Meena Peterson was a wall in net facing a barrage of shots throughout the game.

Morsette had a goal while  Mackenzie Tyner had two. Morsette and Hagerman had assists while  Maeve Kennedy had a hand in two of the goals.

-The Peewee Bs travelled to Cambridge to play in the Roadrunners tournament.  The regular Peewee B goalie was not available, so they picked up Rosalyn Clark from house league who played great all weekend.

In their first game they tied the Lambeth Lancers 1-1. Taryn Landine had the lone goal, assisted by Nicole Geenevasen and Cassandra Clarey.

In their second game they lost a tough one to the Waterloo Ravens, 4-0. They bounced back in their third game with a 4-0 win over the Brantford Ice Kats. Clark was stellar in net, earning the shutout. Goals came from Annika Moore, Ella Ubdegrove and Jocelyn Masters (two).

They closed out the tournament with a 1-0 defeat to the host Roadrunners.
