The Napanee Joyce’s Meats & Deli Atom BBs have reached the finals in the OMHA championships with a solid 7-3 win in Collingwood to complete the sweep.  Benn Kerr scored in the first from Matthew Airhart and Kohen Cutler made it 2-2 after one period. Airhart scored the next five, two of which were short handed, and one on a penalty shot.  Wyatt Albright gained an assist. They await the winner of the Erin / Niagara-on-the-Lake series.

-The Napanee Exit Realty Acceleration Bantam BBs lead South Muskoka 2-1 in games, after a solid 3-2 win on Sunday.  Jason Cameron picked up a giveaway to walk in and score to tie it at 1-1 in the second frame. Carter McKee tallied on a rebound to make it 2-1. Jacob Wood and Ethan Martin assisted on the play. With just over five minutes left, and tied, Owen Gibson went coast-to-coast for the winner. The Stars outshot their guests 32-18, with Ryan Aldridge gaining the goaltending win.

Saturday they scored a convincing 6-0 win, outshooting the Bears 44-19 and controlling much of the play. Zach Slaven combined with McKee and Martin on a shot that hit a stick on its way out of the corner to stand up as the winner. Gavin Brooks made it 2-0 on a smooth rush.  Gibson added a power play marker, from McKee and Brooks. Slaven got his second of the night from Martin, when the Bears failed to clear the zone. Martin and Wood rounded out the scoring with assists by Slaven, Gibson, McKee and Jack Osborne.

In Bracebridge, they were outscored 8-5, albeit with two into the empty Napanee net. They got goals from Slaven, Jakob Dacosta, Cameron, McKee, and Osborne, but couldn’t get the equalizer. Brooks (two), Martin, and Marshall Maracle made the assist column. Aldridge and Sam Rickard shared goal tending duties. Always a team approach, they have used a balanced attack, with scoring from all corners.

-The L&A Mutual Insurance Atom AE squad were also in Collingwood for the start of their semi-final series.  Collingwood took a two game lead with wins of 3-0 and 8-5. Sunday, they received goals from Payton Brooks (two), Cooper Seaton, Cruz Maracle, and Brock Alaver. The Atom AEs hope to get on the board hosting Collingwood at the Strathcona Paper Centre Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 12:30 p.m. if necessary.

-The Inter-Community League held their House League Finals this past weekend, with Napanee teams competing in all divisions. The zone stretches from Stirling to Frontenac and Gananoque. The three Napanee Peewee teams swept all three of their finals. Other champs included Napanee’s Novice1, Atom1, and Midget1.
