The Napanee U23 Express got into the win column at the Women’s Fast Pitch Canadians in Saskatoon, splitting their two Thursday games.

Napanee opened the day with a 6-1 win over the Saskatoon Sabres.

Nikki Weese drove in three on two hits while Tannis Drover added a single RBI to lead the offense.

Megan Morrow pitched the complete seven innings for the win, striking out seven Sabres while allowing just three hits.

Napanee was unable to keep the good times rolling however as they fell 10-1 to the Saskatoon Synergy in the late game.

After allowing a run in the top of the first, the Express did rally to tie it in the bottom half of the inning.

The Synergy offense proved to be too much in this one however as they added three in the second, one in the third and fifth and then four more in the sixth.

Now 1-3 at the tournament, the Express will square off against Quebec today at noon and then play Alberta’s Calahoo Erins at 8:30 p.m.

They’ll wrap up the round robin against the host Saskatoon G-Force on Saturday at 1 p.m.
