Napanee’s U17 Express saw their three game win streak snapped at the Fast Pitch Canadians in Saskatoon on Thursday evening, losing 10-3 to the Chatsworth Longhorns.

Napanee fell behind early as the Longhorns posted four runs in their first at bat. They added three more in the third.

Napanee didn’t go away quietly, chipping away for one run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to shrink Chatsworth’s lead down to 7-3. That was as close as they’d get however as Chatsworth scored three in the sixth to close out the mercy rule victory.

Zachary Branchaud had two RBI for the Express. Dylan Kemp and Gavin Brooks each pitched 2.1 innings.

Napanee was undefeated coming into the game following a 4-2 win over the Prince Albert Astros. Brandon Barker got the win with five solid innings which included six strike outs.

Napanee faces Manitoba’s Oji-Cree Warriors this afternoon at 2 p.m. and then takes on the Wilmot Thunder at 8 p.m. They’ll finish the round robin with a matchup against the Drumbo Lighting on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.

Napanee enters Friday with a 3-1 record, joining Wilmot as the only team with three wins thus far.
