Do you want to learn more about the birds in your backyard? On Tuesday, March 8 at 7 pm, come and enjoy the virtual event: Backyard Birds: Listen Up! with Kyle Blaney.

Kyle Blaney – a skilled birder and nature photographer – will use his photos to describe his obsession with birding: a healthy obsession to have! Kyle will show a sample of birds that might show up at your bird feeder, explain their lifestyles and what feed they prefer, and provide recordings of their sounds. If you want to identify the birds in your yard by their calls: come and listen up.

Kyle will also describe citizen science programs that are easy to use, and that help him plan his birding vacations. Find out more about his unique birding goals and how they encourage him to travel throughout North America.

Kyle Blaney (www.kyleblaney.com) is an avid birdwatcher, photographer, and a data analyst for Shad Canada, a non-profit that provides unique hands-on learning experiences for youth. Nine years ago, he left a comfortable software career to pursue wilderness exploration and youth engagement. Kyle has contributed over 12,500 images to iNaturalist and eBird. His images have been published in birding magazines in Canada and the US. He is also a member of Quinte Field Naturalists.

This is the fifth event in the online Winter Speaker Series co-hosted by Friends of the Salmon River and Friends of the Napanee River. To register at no charge, please visit friendsofsalmonriver.ca or contact susan@moorepartners.ca
