Bulldogs to close out regular season on Saturday in Frontenac

The Deseronto Bulldogs will wrap up their season on Saturday with a road game against the Frontenac Phantoms at 7:30 p.m.

Only pride will be on the line and a chance for the Bulldogs to lock up sole possession of fifth place in the Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League’s West Division. Both teams enter mathematically eliminated from the top four-playoff seeds, sitting fifth and sixth respectively.

Deseronto enters the game on a three game losing stream having dropped an 8-5 game to the Tweed Oil King on Saturday followed by a 10-5 loss to the Smiths Falls Rideaus on Sunday. The Phantoms have had their struggles as well, losing their last six.

Deseronto is 4-12 on the year with an overtime win, giving them nine points on the season. The Phantoms meanwhile are 3-13 with an overtime loss, giving them seven points on the year.

While these two clubs close out their regular season, the rest of the division will get their playoffs underway. The top seeded Rideaus will take on the Gananoque Islanders for a best of three, starting Saturday. In the other bracket, the second seed Oil King face the West Carleton Rivermen, also getting underway Saturday.
