Whether you go on two legs or four legs, you’re invited to the ‘Friends for Life!’ fundraising walk to support the Lennox and Addington Animal Shelter in Napanee.

The walk takes place on Sept. 23, starting at Conservation Park in Napanee. Registration starts at 10 a.m., with walkers heading out onto the route at 11 a.m.

According to Kristin Mullin, the manager of the L&A Animal Shelter, the walk represents the shelter’s biggest fundraiser of the year. “All of the money that we raise in this area stays at this animal shelter, and it helps us pay for surgeries for animals, and everything that is involved in their care,” she said.

Mullin says they hope to raise $17,000 this time around; last year, the event raised just less than $15,000. She says the shelter has been holding the event for 17 years.

There’s more than just the walk itself planned for event. Highlights include pony rides, face painting, a vendor marketplace, pet communicator and more.

“The Friends for Life! Walk is a fun way for you to give back to your community by helping animals in need,” said Mullin. “By participating in the Friends for Life! Walk and collecting pledges, you are helping us continue the life-saving work we do each and every day.”
