Napanee’s U23 Express had their hitting shoes on tonight as they out-slugged the Saskatoon Sabres 14-8 in the seventh versus eighth game at the Canadians in Saskatoon.

Napanee scored at least once in every inning, bashing out 18 hits along the way. Chi Suzuki and Tannis Drover each drove in a pair of runs for Napanee.

The Express scored four in the first and held a 5-2 advantage heading into the third. That’s when the Sabre bats came to life, rallying for five runs to take a 7-5 lead. Napanee wasn’t about to give in there however as they scored a pair to tie and then two more in the fifth to move ahead and never look back. They added one in the fifth and four in the sixth to close out the win.

The win was Napanee’s second at the tournament, moving their overall record to 2-6. The Express had previously defeated the Sabres in round robin play, giving them the higher seed heading into the playoff match.
