Napanee’s U17 Express belted their way to a 9-2 victory over the Drumbo Lightning to close out the round robin with a 5-2 record Saturday afternoon, good for third place heading into tonight’s playoffs at the Fast Pitch Canadians in Saskatoon.

Napanee came out swinging with eight runs in the first. Derek Li, Conner Hooper and Kaden Fowler each drove in a pair of runs to pace the Express offense.

That was more than enough for the tandem of Dylan Kemp and Brandon Barker who combined to allow just four hits in the five-inning game.

Napanee will now face the sixth-seeded Prince Albert Astros tonight at 8:30 p.m. to kick off the playoff round. Napanee won their round robin meeting with the Astros 4-2 on Thursday night.
