U18 Stars lead Tier 1 playoffs

The D&D Electrocraft U18 Napanee Stars began playoffs with a 3-2 win over Tweed on home ice.  Kohen Cutler broke in on a two-on-one firing himself, and the shot trickled between the goalie’s pads.  Dylan Kemp stretched the lead with a slapper from the point on the power play. Tweed scored twice in the second frame before Zered Haller notched the winner from in close when he redirected a point shot from the stick of Luc Asselstine. Shots favoured the Stars 31-27.

On Saturday, facing Douro, they were solid, scoring first on the power play.  Ethan Boutilier scored on a deflection from the point off an opponent to  take the lead which they held until late in the third.  With the Duke’s goalie on the bench for an extra attacker, the visitors scored on a scramble at the side of the net to make it 1-1.  Shots favoured Douro 32-25. The Stars presently lead their Tier 1 playoffs, and visit Ennismore next weekend to round out their four team round robin playoff. 

-The U15 Stars begin their round robin series with Frontenac on Wednesday. They also face Ennismore and Campbellford in the playoff round robin home-and-home series.

-The Goodyear U13 Napanee Stars have two must win games remaining in their playoffs next weekend in Campbellford and home to Lakefield. 

-The Cpk Interior Products U11B Stars travelled to Picadilly to earn a 3-0 shut-out of Frontenac.  Marc Luetchford got the winner in the first, and Hunter O’Hoski and Henry Boyles added to the total in the second. Nate Kimmett, Connor Howse, and O’Hoski all earned assists.
Sunday, at home, they came from behind to win 5-4 over the County to clinch first in Tier 2 playoffs.  The Stars’ Ben de Kairelle, on a feed from Ford Fairbairn, fired a wrister into the twine.  Hunter Armstrong got the first of three on a pass from behind the net by Luetchford. Sullivan Elliott scored the winner on a fine individual effort. Shots were 34-16 for Napanee.

-The U11D Napanee Stars continued their playoffs with a road trip to Lakefield where they were shutout 7-0.  Sunday, at home to Tweed they got tallies from Sawyer Fenwick (two), Paul Thompson, and Quinn Campbell to lead by three with ten minutes left, but came away with a 4-4 tie.
