Tyendinaga Police Services have reported a tragic end to the search for Michelle Kunkel, a missing person last seen Jan. 9 in Shannonville.
They shared the following message to social media:
“Our hearts are broken.
Michelle has been located, but it was an outcome no one wanted. The Tyendinaga Police wish to express heartfelt condolences to Michelle’s family and the friends that stood by them.
No further details are going to be released at this time but please keep the family in your thoughts as they navigate the tough road ahead.
The Tyendinaga Police would like to thank all those that assisted over the past month. A sincere thank you to over 120 community volunteers that donated their own time and their own equipment to help search and bring food.
A big thank you to over 30 Ontario Provincial Police officers that were assisting in investigating, searching, flight crews, K9, and search boats. Thanks to the media outlets that broadcast the story and those that shared it through social media, it will be forever appreciated.
