Two loaded guns seized by OPP in traffic stop in Greater Napanee

On March 5 at approximately 1 a.m. officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP were on patrol on Hwy 401 eastbound in Greater Napanee.

Officers observed a vehicle weave in its lane and initiated a traffic stop near the Napanee Exit.  Police located Cannabis within the vehicle. While searching the vehicle one passenger fled on foot and was subsequently apprehend and arrested for obstructing police. Police arrested all three occupants for possession of cocaine and conducted a search of the vehicle.

Police seized two loaded restricted firearms, a suppressor, a balaclava and gloves, high capacity magazines, multiple cell phones, nearly 400 grams of suspected cocaine, bags of marijuana, over $28,000 dollars in Canadian currency and drug paraphernalia.

As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP has charged

A 34-year-old  of Pierrerfonds, Que., a 20-year-old of Montreal and a 27-year-old of Montreal with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance (cocaine)
  • Possession of over 30g dried cannabis
  • Five counts of occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  • Four counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Two counts of possession of loaded restricted firearm
  • Six counts of careless storage of firearm or ammunition
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Five counts of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered
  • Participation in criminal organization

All three accused were held for a bail hearing and appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee at a later date.
