Traffic complaint leads to impaired charges

Members of the Lennox and Addington OPP have charged a driver with impaired driving.

On Aug. 8 at approximately 12 p.m., officers responded to a traffic complaint on Hwy 401 eastbound in Greater Napanee. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

As a result of an investigation, the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer.

A 63-year-old, of Kingston, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drugs
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Fail to surrender licence
  • Fail to properly wear seat belt
  • Fail to surrender insurance card

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Aug. 30, 2022. His licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
