Town, OPP warn boaters to slow down

Beaver Staff

With water levels on Lake Ontario and the Bay of Quinte still unusually high, the Napanee OPP and Greater Napanee are issuing an advisory to boaters in these areas: slow down.

In a release issued Friday, the OPP warned that pleasure craft moving at excessive speeds on Adolphus Reach and the Bay of Quinte are causing erosion of the shoreline and damaging moored boats. They might also endanger people who happen to be along the shoreline when they pass by.

Boaters are being asked to slow down to a speed of five knots when travelling in these areas in order to decrease their wake and protect the shoreline from further damage.
