Three people charged after drugs and firearms seized in Deseronto

Police recovered fire arms and drugs from a Thomas Street address in Deseronto on May 1.

The Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged three people with multiple offences after executing a search warrant in Deseronto on Monday.

The L&A County CSCU began an investigation into possible drug trafficking.

The search warrant was executed at an address on Thomas Street in Deseronto. Approximately 26 grams of suspected cocaine were seized. Additionally, two firearms, along with ammunition, a high capacity magazine, digital scales and cash were also seized.

A 32-year-old of Deseronto was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm – two counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm- two counts
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose – two counts
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition – two counts
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to probation order

A 30-year-old of Deseronto, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm – two counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm- two counts
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose – two counts
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition – two counts
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000

A 26-year-old of Deseronto was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm – two counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm- two counts
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose – two counts
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition – two counts
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000

The three accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on July 4, 2023.
