EOSHL expands to include Centre Hastings, Barry’s Bay and Quebec’s Pontiac

The Deseronto Bulldogs will have three new opponents to face-off against this coming season as the Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League has once again expanded.

Joining the league is the Pontiac Comets (based in Fort Coulonge, QC), the Centre Hastings Ice Miners (Marmora, On.) and a yet-to-be-named Barry Bay’s On. club.

Last year the league iced 12 teams divided into two divisions, six in each.

“The vision of our league to me is to cap it at 16 teams and create two eight team conferences in the near future. Today we have made that reality a bit more realistic and possibly next season we will get to that goal,” says EOSHL president Mitch Gagne.

The Bulldogs are among the original four teams of the senior hockey league, which just recent wrapped up its third season with the North Dundas Rockets claiming the league title for a second straight season.

The Bulldogs finished the year fifth in their division with a record of 10-10. The 2023-24 season is expected to get underway in late September.
