A win for TCO Agromart Ltd. in the national Thank A Retailer contest would be a win for the Lennox and Addington community.

The Selby-based agricultural supply store is a finalist for an online contest, sponsored by ADAMA, which will see the winning store earn $15,000 to donate to a local cause of their choice. TCO has chosen L&A’s Seniors Outreach Services as their benefactor should they win the contest.

The winner will be determined based on which store can garner the most votes through social media by Feb. 14. TCO is one of seven stores vying for the prize in the Eastern Canada division.

They were named a finalist based on their ongoing support in the community by donating to things such as local fairs, minor sports teams, schools and the food bank, among other causes.

“Seniors Outreach Services came to mind because it benefits so many people in our community,” Sandra O’Neill of TCO Agromart said of why they chose to support SOS should they win. “I think that they’re in need for sure, that 55 Plus program specifically. I believe their funding has been decreased by the government so they rely on fundraising and community donations.”

Because much of their clientele is repeat business, O’Neill says they get to know the people of the community and wanted to give back.

Anyone looking to cast a vote for TCO Agromart Ltd. can do so by visiting www.thankaretailer.ca/vote/details/tco-agromart-selby. They must have a Facebook account to vote and can vote once a day until Valentine’s.
