Canadians of goodwill from across the country stand against the contemptible and cowardly attack by Derek Sloan, Conservative party MP for Hastings-Lennox and Addington, on Canada’s chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam – an opportunistic slur manufactured simply from the fact of Dr. Tam’s ethnicity.
Conservative MP Dr. Michael Chong reacted angrily to the slur from Mr. Sloan. Dr. Chong recalled that his own father was “an immigrant who worked extremely hard to become a medical doctor, like Dr. Tam”.
That “his father’s loyalty to this country, like Dr. Tam’s, was unquestionable.”
“And the Conservative party that I know does not stand for this kind of garbage.” On the issue of garbage from Mr. Sloan, Dr. Chong speaks for us all.
Derek Sloan should resign his seat in our Parliament.
