Suspects face several charges after attempting to flee police in vehicle and then foot

On Oct 28 at approximately 8 p.m. officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP were on patrol and observed a vehicle travelling on Hwy 401 eastbound without proper licence plates.

Officers initiated a traffic stop. The driver initially stopped and then fled while police were investigating. The vehicle exited the 401 at Palace Road and a tire deflation device was used to stop the vehicle as it was observed driving in a dangerous manner.

The vehicle eventually came to rest in a field off of County Road 4 and three occupants fled on foot. Police apprehended three people and transported them to L&A County Detachment.

A 24-year-old of Tweed is charged with:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of Schedule 1 substance

A 26-year-old of Kingston is charged with:

  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Failure to comply with undertaking
  • Two counts of possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of Schedule 1 substance

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Jan. 5, 2021.

A 27-year-old of Kington is charged with

  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of Schedule 1 substance

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on January 5, 2021.
