Suspect attempts to flee scene of accident on foot, gets caught by OPP

On Nov. 29 at approximately 11 p.m.  Officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County OPP responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Mountain Road in Stone Mills Township.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a Hydro pole. The lone occupant was uninjured and fled on foot after speaking with a witness at the scene.  The driver was located a short time later where he was arrested and transported to detachment for processing.

As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP have charged a 20-year-old of Deseronto with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit
  • Obstruct police officer.

The accused was further charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Fail to remain at the scene of an accident;
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence;
  • Novice driver drive with Blood Alcohol Concentration above zero.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Jan. 4, 2022. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
