Stencil drawings added around town to encourage physical distancing

Due to the COVID-19 emergency, Greater Napanee Public Works and Parks Operations staff have implemented a creative way to encourage physical distancing to those out walking on municipal sidewalks or pathways.

Staff have been using stencils to paint images such as the town’s logo, sail boats and footprints on the sidewalks and pathways. The images are two metres (six feet) apart from each other. These stencil marks are being used to encourage physical distancing and visually showing the public how far apart they should be from each other (stencil to stencil) when out walking on the sidewalks or pathways.

The town asks that when people see these stencils to abide by the message they are sending and to remain the two metre distance from other people. The stencil designs will be in blue, yellow and white; the images to look for include:

  • Variations of the town’s logo;
  • Sail boat;
  • Maple leaf;
  • Footprint

Though playgrounds, play structures, boat launches and shelters are currently closed to the public, the green space in the parks and any municipal pathways and trails remain open at this time. Signs have been posted along all municipal trails reminding of physical distancing practices as well as at all municipal parks and playgrounds stating that park amenities are currently closed for public use.
