Stars prepare for playoffs

The Napanee Atom BB Stars continued their winning ways with a 5-2 win in Campbellford to end league play, and to stretch their record to 20 wins and one tie with one game scratched by inclement weather.

Before the playoffs begin, the team has qualified for the 16 team Silver Stick Finals in Sarnia with games beginning today.

nThe Joyce Meats & Deli Atom AEs are also off to the Pelham Silver Stick Atom AE Finals beginning Friday with games in Niagara Falls. Sunday they were narrowly edged 3-2 in Tweed.

In the playoffs, their first round opponent is Lindsay.

  • The Peewee BBs final test before the playoffs was Prince Edward County who visited Sunday afternoon. A 3-1 win pushed their record in league play to 22 straight wins and a first place finish. Cal Uens had a hat trick in the victory.  Ethan Sutcliffe and Luke Jarmin contributed assists.
  • The Napanee Canadian Tire Peewee AEs, who played up a category in the Eastern Ontario League, will begin their preliminary playoff round facing the Lindsay AE Muskies.
  • The Napanee Bantams played a strong defensive game, a scoreless 0-0 match in Wellington.

Sunday in Douro, they were easy 9-0 winners over the AE team.

Their 13-5-4 record placed them third in the Eastern Ontario League.

  • The Napanee Cab Midgets continue to play in tight games, earning a 2-2 draw  in Campbellford and 2-1 hosting Stirling to close out their league schedule.

Spencer Chatterton and Cal Duchene scored for the locals in the home game. They finished at the top of their preliminary playoff grouping which includes Stirling and Prince Edward County.
