For a second straight year the Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre will host their annual Baby Shower fundraising event virtually, starting Friday, May 7 at 10 a.m. to May 10 ending at 4 p.m.

This socially distant, family-friendly event is the only day of the year the Wildlife Centre opens its doors to the public. Filmed by SPWC’s education coordinator, Jess Pelow, Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre director Sue Meech and facilities director Julia Evoy, the video will take visitors through a virtual tour of the Greater Napanee-based state-of-the-art clinic and see baby animal feeding demos and visit some areas at Sandy Pines that have never been seen before.

This virtual event will feature many of SPWC’s typical baby shower activities such as a three-prize raffle, local vendors offering honey, jewellery, Sandy Pines merchandise and so much more.  A link to this event will be available on their web site at www.sandypineswildlife.org and their Facebook page @sandypineswildlifecentre or find it directly at https://www.sandypinesbabyshower.com/.

Typically eligible for several Service Canada Summer Employment participants, this year SWPC says they haven’t received any recommendations from Hastings-Lennox and Addington MP Derek Sloan. As a charity the centre is usually eligible for several of these participants, which SPWC says helps immensely throughout their busiest season.

This year has seen an increase of about 64 per cent more patients to date than last year at this same time and Sandy Pines is still working every day to help the wildlife.  More than ever they need the help of the community.
