A member of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds has reportedly died while another sustained serious injuries after their jet crashed into the front yard of a home in Kamloops, B.C. shortly after taking off just before 3 p.m. eastern.

Video from the crash shows smoke come from the plane before it began plummeting to the ground. At least one of the two people in the plane was able to eject, landing on the roof of a nearby house. According to a report from CBC, the residents of the home where the plane crashed were uninjured.

The Snowbirds were nearing the end of their cross-country trip, known as Operation Inspiration, meant to lift the spirits of Canadians who were doing their part to flatten the COVID-19 curve. On May 8 they flew over Greater Napanee.
