The U13 and U15 Napanee Stars both travelled to the Capital Mid Season Showdown at the Sensplex in Ottawa, and both came away with similar, fine results. The U15 Stars reached the semifinals to face Ottawa West taking their opponents to overtime, but fell 4-3. Callen Wilson, Devin Robinson, and Will Babcock scored for the locals. In Friday action, they defeated Voisins de Papineau 7-4. Wyatt Albright tallied a pair while Ben Kerr got the winner. Facing Osgood-Richmond, the Stars matched their opponents 3-3 and were also the equal of Ottawa West in a 2-2 tie. Kerr scored the tying goal on the power play, while Tivon James had a pair of assists. Facing Stittsville, they fell 6-0.
The U13 Stars also lost in the semifinals in their division of that tournament, losing 5-0 to Stittsville. They had edged Oakville 1-0 thanks to Ryder Bryce’s tally, and tied Markham 3-3, with Hudson Conger, Liam Mulder, and Chase Castagnier scoring. Quinn McConnell gave them a brief lead facing Stittsville on Saturday, but the contest ended 7-1. Maddux Hartwick and Bruce tallied for the locals in a 2-2 tie with Clarence-Rockland, to set up Sunday’s semifinal game.
The U13’s were edged in an earlier match 4-3 by Loyalist. Grayson Rowe and Bryson Wilson scored first, but they fell behind until Bruce notched one on the power play to even the score. Their guests scored late to end the game.
The U18 Napanee Stars hosted a pair of games over the weekend. On Saturday, the boys cruised past Campbellford outshooting them 65-11, and outscoring them 7-1. Spencer Cranley put in a rebound off Ethan Boutilier’s shot three minutes in. Zered Haller would bury the winner on a pass from the end boards by Luc Amat. Amat would record three goals of his own during the contest, with singles credited to Boutilier, as well as a second by Cranley. Sunday, they faced Douro in a tight contest, and were outscored 2-1. The Stars spotted them a pair in the first frame, one a power play marker. Midway in the second, Spencer Cranley scored on a two-on-one play with Jayden Holden. The locals pressed their opponents in the third, but they did not get the equalizer. The shots favoured Napanee 32-30.
The Northfleet U11’s travelled to Gananoque to play an undefeated Islanders team on Saturday. Ian Fairbairn was the only Star to tuck the puck past the host goalie in a losing cause. Sunday, they fell to Brighton at home at the SPC.
