Southview Public School students will be hosting their second annual fundraising carnival April 25, which will feature fun for the whole family.

Running from 5 to 8 p.m., the event will include games, Jello eating contest, silent auction, prizes, face painting and cash canteen.

“They are run by students at the school,” Jillian Asselstine, a member of Southview Public School’s parent council says of the games. “Each of the grades are helping to actually make the games. Then they’re all completely run by student volunteers from Grades 7 and 8 that interact with the children.”

“That was our biggest compliment last year that the students were so good with the kids,” added Asselstine. “They loved hanging out with older kids at the school.”

Admission is $5 per person or $20 per family.

“(Money raised) goes towards class trips, reducing costs for parents that maybe wouldn’t be able to send their kids on trips,” added Asselstine.

Funds that were collected from last year’s carnival helped to cover the cost of brain bikes, fidget spinners, a sun shelter in front of the school, hot lunches and the school’s track and field day.

The carnival will be held at Southview Public School, which is located at 18 Golf Course Lane in Napanee.
