Around 300 participants ran, jogged, rolled or walked the pavement on Saturday during the sixth annual Napanee Heritage Race.

Andrew Lupenette placed first in the 5 km race, finishing in a time of 15:34. Andrew House was second at 16:18, just ahead of third place Linden Head, who clocked in at 16:21.

The top finishing female was Anna Workman, who ran the course in a time of 16:44, finishing fifth overall. Teagan Robertson was the second fastest female at 17:22, good for seventh overall.

In the kids one-mile race the winner was 11-year-old Dylan Chalk who completed the run in 5:51. Hana Rowberry, age 11, was second at 6:08 with Julia Pennell, age 11, third at 6:17.

This year’s event also included a 5 km walking race, with Hanna Gregory claiming the top spot with a time of 35:25. Michelle Ruttan was second at 41:55, tied with Kerri Parslow.

All told 240 racers finished the 5 km run, with participants ranging from a 10-14 year old category to an 80-84 division, which featured two racers.

The kids division had 97 runners finish.

Each race started and finished outside the Lennox and Addington Museum and Archives. The 5 km course took runners on a winding path that travelled alongside some of Napanee’s historic heritage sites.

Money raised from the event will go towards an outdoor fitness station to be installed on the north side trail of the Gibbard District condos.
