Loyalist Landing

History was re-told in Adolphustown’s UEL Heritage Park on Saturday, as sail boats glided onto its shores, re-enacting the original Loyalist Landing of 1784 as part of the Thunder on the Reach event. Shortly after their arrival, the historical re-enactors acted out the drawing of the lots, which saw the original Loyalists awarded land based on their military rank and family. Friday featured a simulated gunboat battle while Sunday saw a special flag raising ceremony at the UEL Cemetery and parade to St. Alban’s church. Throughout the weekend campers recreated a military encampment. Photo by Adam Prudhomme.
