RIGBY, Timothy

RIGBY, Timothy

April 11, 1955 to July 28, 2023

It is with deep sorrow we announce Tim’s passing at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived, deeply loved, and missed by his wife of 45 years, Lynn, his children Aadan (Alyssa), Kailyn (Lijo) and Luke as well as his brothers Peter (Cynthia), David (Linda), and John (Wendy), and his grandchildren Cedric, Silas, and Selah. He is predeceased by his parents Arnold and Evelyn Rigby and will be dearly missed by his extended family and friends.
He will be remembered as a patient teacher and farmer who loved learning. He made his pupils, from his own children and grandchildren, to students in the prison system, high school or in alternative education, feel valued and empowered. He was steady, kind and persistent until the knowledge was imparted and the person felt their potential. He also loved politics, starting at the University of Manitoba as president of the student union and more recently, being heavily involved in the Liberal Party and running in the provincial election in 2018. He leaves behind a rich faith heritage through his extensive involvement in the church including the church board, youth groups, and summer family camps.
We want to thank our many health care heroes including the Neurosurgery team, the Cancer Clinic team, the staff at Providence Care Heritage 1 and 2 and at Lennox and Addington Hospital, and finally the Palliative home care team who cared for and guided us in the last days. We are so grateful.
A visitation will be held at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd. on Wednesday, August 2 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm as well as Thursday, August 3 at the Kingston Standard Church, 1185 Sunnyside Rd. from 10:00 – 10:50. The funeral service will follow at 11 am. Interment Moscow Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to University Hospital Kingston Foundation or Lennox and Addington County General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
