Reid Lambert the hero as last second goal gives Napanee Raiders 3-2 series lead over Frankford Huskies

Reid Lambert came through in the clutch for the Raiders, scoring with eight seconds left in regulation to give Napanee a 3-2 Game 5 win over the Huskies in Frankford on Thursday night.

That same 3-2 count is the margin in which the Raiders now lead the best-of-seven series, giving them a chance to punch their ticket to the Tod Division finals with a win Friday night on home ice.

Lambert’s game winner was his second of the game, as he lit the lamp two minutes into the middle period, giving the Raiders a 2-1 lead at the time. Spencer Cranley had scored for Napanee at 5:42 of the first.

Liam Storms and Tyson Carr both responded for the Huskies, Storms in the first, Carr in the third. The game was mere seconds away from heading to overtime before Lambert stepped up with the huge goal.

Logan Vale earned the win with 29 saves. Dean Spry took the loss, turning away 26 shots.

Napanee will now look to close out the top-seeded Huskies tomorrow night at the SPC. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.

If the Huskies can prolong it, Game 7 will go Sunday night in Frankford.

On the toher side of the playoff bracket the Port Hope Panthers are working towards an upset of their own after doubling up the second-seeded Amherstview Jets 6-3 in Amherstview tonight.
The Panthers now hold a 3-2 advantage in their best-of-seven. They can wrap it up on home ice on Saturday night. The Jets will be looking to push it to the limit and force a Game 7 which would go Sunday night in Amherstview at 7:25 p.m.
