The Napanee Raiders snapped their three game losing streak and returned to their winning ways this weekend, doubling up on the Port Hope Panthers 4-2 at home before routing the Campbellford Rebels 9-3 on the road.

Napanee did most of the heavy lifting in the first period of Saturday’s laugher, scoring five unanswered goals. Jayden Holden, who laced up as an AP for Napanee, scored twice while Ben Carter, Trent Williams and Cameron Krupa each had one.

The Rebels attempted to make a game of it in the second, scoring three times, but Napanee answered back with two of their own from Blake Aylesworth and Reid Lambert.

Carter and Krupa each chimed in with one in the third to seal the victory.

Ethan Babin picked up with win for Napanee, stopping 22 of 25. His counterpart Jayden Lang saw more than double the pucks, allowing all nine goals on 57 attempts.

Friday’s home game against the division leading Panthers was much more tightly contested

Napanee got off to a quick start, scoring three goals less than three minutes into the game. Ryan Kidd, Marshall McFarland and Williams each lit the lamp. That was enough to chase starting goaltender Ethan Reynaud from the game, replaced by Dominic Marquis, who quickly restored order.

Josh Sainthill got one back for the Panthers near the midway mark of the first.

Lambert struck early in the second for Napanee to push the lead to 4-1. Geoff Boates responded by Port Hope with less than five minutes to go in the middle frame. That would mark the end of the scoring for either side however as Logan Vale slammed the door over the final 24 minutes. Vale finished with 18 saves on the night.

The two wins push the Raiders back to even on the season, now 6-6-1, tied with the Picton Pirates for fourth in the league, 10 points back of the Panthers for first place.

The Raiders will face-off against the Pirates on Thursday night in Picton. They’re right back in action on Friday night when they welcome the Frankford Huskies to the SPC. Both games are 7:30 p.m. starts.

On Nov. 12 they have a rare Sunday matinee on the road in Amherstview against the Jets. Puck drop is 1:30 p.m.
