Private well owners in Greater Napanee and Stone Mills asked to participate in research survey

Private well owners in the municipality of the Town of Greater Napanee and Stone Mills Township are being sought to take part in research project led by Queen’s University PhD candidate Sarah Lavallee.

Queen’s University is interested in having private well owners participate in their research project that is associated with well water. This project aims to understand knowledge, attitudes, perceptions and behaviours regarding private well water use and management, with the aim to develop a knowledge-based tool intended for use by private well owners.

Those that are interested are invited to participate in one-on-one interviews in which they will be asked general questions about their opinions and experiences with their private well and well water. There is no need to be an expert on a well in order to participate. Participation will require 30 – 40 minutes of time and will be conducted virtually (via Zoom, Microsoft Teams or phone call).
Participants must own a private well on a property in the municipality of the Town of Greater Napanee or Stone Mills Township and must be 18 years of age or older. A short pre-screening survey will be administered prior to scheduling an interview to ensure eligibility.
The information gathered from these interviews will contribute to the research project titled, “Exploring, Developing and Evaluating Drinking Water Vulnerability Assessment Measures: Implications for rural Ontario communities using private groundwater drinking sources” (The “WELLness” Project).”

Anyone interested in participating in this study, or who has any questions about the project, can contact Lavallee at Queen’s University by email at 12sml7@queensu.ca.
