Applications to Atura Power Community Development Fund now open

Applications are now open for community groups within Greater Napanee to apply for funding through the Atura Power Community Development Fund.

Applicants that are eligible to receive funding include community groups located within the boundaries of Greater Napanee and independent local initiatives that align with the grant criteria.
The Atura Power Community Development Fund has been built into the Greater Napanee – Atura Power Host Agreement and is a opportunity for eligible community groups in Greater Napanee to secure funding as it provides $2 million over 20 years (beginning in 2014) to help fund community projects.
Funding criteria has recently been amended to include funding for COVID-19 recovery.

“My council and I are very pleased that Atura Power is honouring the commitment to our community regarding this important development fund,” says Greater Napanee mayor Marg Isbester. “This is a true sign of Atura’s commitment to being a strong community partner. The ability of local non-profit organizations to access funding has never been so important, as we try to reverse the local economic and service impacts of COVID-19.”
Bruce Wick, plant manager of Napanee Generating Station, believes Atura will be a positive addition to the Greater Napanee community.
“Atura strives to be a strong local partner by contributing to the well-being of the communities where we live, work and play,” said Wick. “Atura is pleased to be partnering with the Town of Greater Napanee to identify and support worthy projects that will make a sustainable, positive impact to the community.”

Reflecting on the professional partnership that the Town has developed with Atura, Atura Power Community Development Fund committee chair Raymond Callery notes, “it has been a pleasure to work with representatives of Atura Power for the last year. With their assistance, the administration of the fund from a partnership with TransCanada to Atura Power is now complete. Very worthwhile projects have been made possible in the community from past investments and the committee looks forward to reviewing new applications in the coming weeks that will help address local needs.”

Interested applicants can find the criteria for funding on the ‘Grants’ page of the town’s website, www.greaternapanee.com. Eligible applicants are encouraged to complete the ‘Greater Napanee-Atura Host Agreement Community Project Funding Online Application’ form: https://www.greaternapanee.com/en/your- town-hall/resources/Documents/2021-PDFs/Fillable-Atura-Grant-Application-final-version.pdf, which is also available on the ‘Grants’ page, to be considered for funding. A committee, comprised of staff from Atura Power and the Town of Greater Napanee, will review applications and make all funding decisions.
