Police stop vehicle that was reported stolen in Greater Napanee and seize several illegal substances

Police say an assortment of illegal substances were found inside a vehicle that had been reported stolen. Two suspects were arrested in Greater Napanee.

On April 21, members of the Ontario Provincial Police OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit were conducting an investigation where a vehicle was stopped and two people were arrested on Centre Street in Napanee.

Police determined that the vehicle was reported stolen and both the driver and passenger were arrested and transported to detachment for processing.

Police seized substances believed to be Fentanyl, Cocaine, Oxycodone, other prescription pills and approximately $2,500 in cash.

As a result of the investigation police have charged,

A 48-year-old of Kingston and a 28-year-old of Greater Napanee with:

  • Three counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Three counts of possession of a Schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of proceeds of crime
  • Theft of a motor vehicle

The 28-year-old was further charged with

  • Fail to comply with a Release Order

The 28-year-old was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on June 22, 2021

The 48-year-old was held for a bail hearing and will appear for a video bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice on April 27, 2021.
